Aerial Lineman

OBJECTIVES: In our construction division, an aerial lineman will be working in a two to three man operations. He will act as one of the leaders in his crew. He will coordinate the whole process which consist of analysing the work order, preparing his equipment, operating the bucket truck and managing his support crew. This person will oversee new and advanced bucket truck and equipment.

REPORTS TO: Project Managers / Foreman

CLASSIFICATION: Full time (40-50 hours a week)

Key tasks and function

Read and interpret blueprints or construction drawings
Follow-up on ongoing projects, monitor progress of the work done
Identify problems in operations process and resolve them in quickly and timely manner
Maintain clear and accurate operations documents/procedures for reference purposes
Trouble-shooting issues that arise daily
Load and unload aerial equipment in a safety manner
Complete Driver’s logbook & daily vehicle inspection (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, accident or incident reports
Interact with Hydro and other Telecom Companies for the construction of Fiber Optic Systems
Access specific areas to lash lines using lashers, auxiliary equipment, or appliances, using bucket trucks, or by climbing poles using spurs or ladders, or entering trenches, or confined spaces
Installation of aerial or underground fiber optic or coaxial cable using existing knowledge of all required pole hardware
Pull cable by hand from large reels mounted on trucks; pull lines through ducts by hand or with winches
Ensure all safety signs, cones, barriers, etc. are in good shape

Qualifications and skills

Aerial Lineman experience
Carte Occupation CCQ ( For Quebec)
Preferably AZ – Classe 3 driver’s licence
Proven ability to work collaboratively with others
Excellent communication and time management skills
Previous experience working around aerial line
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
